Workshop Overview

We live in a “VUCA” environment – “volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous”.  A combination of market disruption, technological change, competition, economic downturn, etc. is placing a demand on leaders to respond even more quickly and adaptively to meet ever‐changing market, customer and competitive challenges. To be successful now and in the future, leaders, teams and organizations must have agility to effectively manage in a fast, moving and turbulent world. 

Another way to look at Leadership Agility is to answer three basic questions: 

1. Why is building an Agile organization important? 

To help businesses, their leaders and employees adapt and thrive in VUCA world.

2. How does Agility create long-term business success? 

Through a series of best practices, practical tools and processes, companies learn to build a dynamic capability to sense impending change and respond to it better and faster.

3. What does Agility accomplish? 

Building Agility within your workforce helps leaders and businesses become more focused, fast and flexible.  Organizations and individuals at all levels become more focused on strategic imperatives, and capabilities become faster and more flexible in responding to ever changing times.

This 2-1/2 day workshop includes individual activities and assessments, group discussions, case studies and skill proactive activities to reinforce learning.

This program is designed for leaders responsible for formulating and implementing strategy and change and/or for influencing others either inside or outside an organization.

  • Pre-seminar assessment – Online Leadership Agility self-assessment using the Leadership Agility Profile™ (LAP) – Link to assessment and instructions are provided by U of A in participant correspondence. LAP to be completed at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the seminar. LAP results (printed reports) will be provided by Agility Consulting for distribution at the seminar.

Nicholas F. Horney

Nicholas F. Horney, Ph.D, Founder & Principal – Agility Consulting


DR. NICK F. HORNEY, President of Agility Consulting and Training, provides the tools, consulting and training to better enable individuals, teams and organizations to more effectively respond and manage within the context of a continuously turbulent environment. He recently served as Vice President of Client and Constituency Relations for the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in Greensboro, NC. Nick was previously Vice President of Consulting Services at ODR, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia and has an additional breadth of industry experience with Coopers and Lybrand Consulting, Nestle and Pepsi. His formal teaching experience includes adjunct faculty work at The University of Alabama, Cornell University and Rochester Institute of Technology. Many of Nick’s leadership principles were developed through his 23-years of experience in the Navy as a diving officer and leading Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida.
